Those planning their travel to Anguilla know that the route to the island is anything but typical, or direct. Ranging from simple to more extravagant means of transportation, here’s a guide to help you arrive at this quaint, stunningly beautiful paradise seamlessly (and maybe with a rum punch in your hand).

  1. Fly commercial to St. Maarten, and arrive to Anguilla by public ferry, private or shared Sea Shuttle.
The most popular (and least extravagant) means of getting to Anguilla is by way of commercial flight. However, the easiest way to reach the island from the sky is through St. Maarten, by public ferry or sea shuttle. Flying into neighboring St. Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport enables travelers to take a 25 minute sea shuttle directly to Anguilla.  Private or shared sea shuttles are available from Calypso Charter between the islands, among other companies. 2. Charter a private yacht.
There is no better way to experience the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean and off the coast of Anguilla than to charter a boat. Not only will you arrive well-rested and overcome with beautiful views of sunsets and sunrises, sea life and beautiful weather, but you will fit in with the dozens of ultra-high-net-worth individuals who reach the island via yacht. Available options include BVI Yacht Charters and St. Martin Yacht Charters.
  3. BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat).
Bring your own sailboat or yacht. You should be able to decide when and how you reach your destination. Nothing emits luxury like arriving aboard your own vessel. Don’t forget to contact and clear Customs & Immigration at Sandy Ground upon arrival.
  4. Charter a private flight from St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, or even New York, directly.
You prefer personalized travel, but want to get to your destination as quickly as possible. Luckily, several charter plane companies offer direct flights into Anguilla’s Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport. This travel method allows you to arrive in style and ahead of everyone else – meaning more relaxation and uninterrupted beach time for you. For visitors flying from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Anguilla is just a one-hour direct flight via Seaborne Airlines. Those looking to fly private jet from anywhere in the U.S can use private companies such as XOJET. Visit ivisitanguilla.com/by-air/ for more information.
